WE FOLLOW THE EYFS
Learning through play is one of the key principles of Early Years Education.
At ChildrensWorld children have the opportunity to play as well as to experience a wide variety of adult-led and child-initiated activities. Practitioners build on children’s home-based knowledge and experiences, and provide opportunities for progression, extension, and challenge.
We recognise that children learn in different ways and at different rates and plan for this accordingly. Our aim is to support all children attending the nursery to attain their maximum potential within their individual capabilities.
We ensure that the educational programmes are well planned and resourced to have depth and breadth across the seven areas of learning:
- Communication and Language
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
They provide interesting and challenging experiences that meet the needs of all children.
OUTDOOR PLAY
We recognise the importance of outdoor learning; it is a vital part of children’s development and well-being.
At all our nurseries children and practitioners embrace all weathers, going outdoors morning and afternoon in all weathers, teaching children about all the learning opportunities the different weathers bring.
Our forest school trained staff create learning inspired through experiences based on exploration and discovery, allowing for uninterrupted learning. Resources are open-ended offering a wider range of possibilities, for children to discover, collaborate, take risks and move freely.
All our nurseries have large outdoor areas with direct access from our preschool and toddler rooms, to dedicated outdoor spaces and at our Newport nursery there is direct access from the Woddlers Room to their outdoor area. We provide opportunities for children to develop their understanding of the world by planting flowers, growing vegetables and supporting the children to nurture these and if role play is what’s on their mind then our mud kitchen are a perfect place to play!
We have outdoor canopies to protect from extreme sun and the rain although we do go out all year-round; we believe
‘there is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes!’
Our Environment
The nursery is divided into age specific rooms; Babies, Woddlers, Toddlers and Pre-school. Each is flooded with natural light and opens directly onto a garden. Healthy physical activity is a big part of the day, even in bad weather, we get the woollies, waterproofs and wellies on and carry on regardless, making the most of the fresh air and freedom.
The age-appropriate equipment in each room is of the highest standard, everything’s kept in tip-top condition and regularly replaced and added to.
